Sister Gertrude Morgan
by King Britt presents Sister Gertrude Morgan
This record is one of the most important in King Britt's catalog. Released just 6 months before the devastating floods in New Orleans, this became the soundtrack of that time.
Sister Gertrude was an evangelist who would preach on street corners. In 1970 she did an album of Preservation Hall. King Britt and Tim Motzer took the original recordings of vocal and tamborine and created another world.
Many songs from the album went on to be in Miami Vice, True Blood and recently sampled by New Zealand artists, David Dallas which has breathed new life into it.
